About Jonathan Kiev MD

A board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon, Jonathan Kiev, MD, performs minimally invasive and robotic surgeries as attending thoracic surgeon at Saint Joseph Lexington, Kentucky. In that role, he also treats patients with cancers affecting the chest and mediastinum. Previously, Jonathan Kiev, MD, was in private practice in Washington, DC, while maintaining surgical privileges with area hospitals including Sibley Memorial Hospital, Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center, and Doctors Community Hospital. Dr. Kiev holds a BA from Syracuse University and an MD from Tulane University. Following a general surgery internship at St. Barnabas Medical Center, he completed a general surgery residency at Hahnemann University Hospital. His continuing education included fellowships in cardiothoracic surgery, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, and advanced thoracic surgery at the world famous Mayo Clinic and the University of Pittsburgh medical center. In 2014, Dr. Kiev founded AOK Innovations, LLC. The company has researched and designed several innovative medical devices that provide quick access for use in the operating room, battlefield, and by emergency medical service personnel.
